The Indonesian Government is set to establish a football training center in the New Capital of Nusantara (IKN).
“Seeing the healthier development of national football, the President stated his directives to me and Chairperson of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) to establish a football training camp with complete facilities in our new capital,” Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali said after a meeting with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (08/03).
The Minister also said that the Government also plans to build sports facilities, both main and supporting facilities. This is also related to Indonesia’s proposal to host the 2036 Olympics in the new capital, he added.
On the occasion, PSSI Chairperson Mochamad Iriawan expressed his enthusiasm for the establishment of the football training center. “This is very much awaited by the public. Once again, thank you Mr. President for your attention to football. And, God willing, Indonesian football will progress,” he stated. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat SETPRES/UN) (FI/MUR)
