President Jokowi Inspects COVID-19 Vaccination in Wajo

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo started his working visit in South Sulawesi province by inspecting vaccination for students at state senior high school (SMAN) 3 Wajo in Wajo regency, South Sulawesi Province, Thursday (09/09).

“Today I inspected vaccination held in schools, including senior high schools, vocational schools, and madrasas. I think everything was running  smoothly,” President Jokowi said in his remarks.

The President also expressed his appreciation to the vaccinator team from the regional technical implementation unit (UPTD) of Belawa community health center who carried out door-to-door vaccination by boat since the area was hit by floods.

The Head of State added that proactive action in vaccination is important to improve the service, while expressing  hope the acceleration of vaccinations carried out in schools can curb the spread of COVID-19 so the students can start face-to-face learning immediately.

“We hope more students will get vaccinated so we can move faster and closer to face-to-face learning which we hope will start soon for we want students to go back to school immediately,” he said.

President Jokowi also reminded students to remain disciplined in implementing strict health protocols.

“I wear a double mask because it is important to protect us from COVID-19,” he added.

For the record, a total of 220 high school students received the first dose of Sinovac vaccine during the event. Vaccination for students was also held simultaneously in a number of schools in the regency.

In addition to inspecting SMAN 3 Wajo, President Jokowi also inspected vaccination for the public at Wewangrewu community health center in Wajo regency. (BPMI SETPRES/UN) (GWH/EP)
