President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (07/28) received a visit from Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chairperson Chung Eui-sun at Lotte Hotel, Seoul, the Republic of Korea.
“The Chairperson stated that they would expand their electric car [business] and its R&D in Indonesia. It is still at the planning stage,” Minister of Investment/Head of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia said in a statement after the meeting.
In addition, the Minister said that Hyundai is interested in the New Capital of Nusantara (IKN). “[Hyundai] will also invest in the IKN, this is good news,” he said.
Previously, Ministry of Investment also signed an MoU with a South Korean steel-making company POSCO. “So, the perception that there is no investment into the new capital is simply not true,” he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (FI/MMB)
