Presidential Palaces Implement Use of New Renewable Energy

In a bid to deal with climate change and to realize a clean energy transition, Presidential Palaces in Indonesia have implemented the utilization of new renewable energy.

“Presidential Secretariat always supports the demands of a changing world, one of which is to use renewable electricity,” Head of the Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono said in his remarks during the handover of Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) and Support for Battery Electric Vehicle to five Presidential Palaces by state electricity company PT PLN at the Presidential Palace Jakarta, Tuesday (09/06).

Heru expressed hope that other government institutions will also participate in the utilization of new renewable energy to help combat climate change.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PT PLN Darmawan Prasodjo also expressed appreciation for the Presidential Secretariat initiative in the utilization of new renewable energy. “It is an honor because the palace is at the forefront of tackling climate change and becomes an extraordinary model. The utilization of new renewable energy or clean energy is a far-reaching vision,” he said.

The Presidential Palaces have also changed the source of electricity to new renewable energy with zero carbon emissions, he said.

The five Presidential Palaces receiving REC certificates and battery electric vehicle supports include the Presidential Palaces in Jakarta, Bogor, Cipanas, Yogyakarta, and Tampaksiring. PT PLN also provides support in the form of EV for the smooth operation of the Presidential Palaces.

“We also want to assist the palaces to use EV, electric motorbikes so there is a shift, from transportation modes motored by fuel, imported energy, a much more expensive one, a dirtier energy to transportation modes motored by electricity,” he remarked.
